Outpatient wound care services available at Via Christi provide comprehensive treatment for chronic wounds, usually described as wounds that have not shown significant healing in four weeks, or completely healed in eight weeks.
Our highly qualified staff evaluates the wound in conjunction with overall health. Additional testing, including wound culturing, may be requested to help determine the most effective approach to treatment and ongoing care.
A treatment plan is developed including appropriate modalities such as whirlpool, electrical stimulation, vacuum assisted closure and patient and family education. Additional services including nursing care, physical therapy, nutritional considerations or pharmaceutical interventions may also be recommended. This "plan of action" is developed with both the referring physician and patient and adapted as necessary.
*A doctor's referral is required for Wound Care services.
