Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg offers a variety of special services to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Many of these services are provided by Auxiliary members that volunteer thousands of hours to bring a special touch to Via Christi Hospital. These services would not be possible without their dedication.

Coffee Cart
Volunteers make rounds each weekday morning offering coffee to visitors and patients.

Flowers from well-wishers will be delivered to your room daily by a Via Christi Auxiliary volunteer. Flowers cannot be delivered in the ICU/CCU.

An Auxiliary volunteer will deliver your mail to you every afternoon. Postal mailboxes are located near the front door of the north entrance of the medical center. If you have something to mail, your nurse will see that it gets to the proper place. If mail should arrive following your dismissal, it will be forwarded to you.

Magazines, books and puzzles can be found throughout the waiting areas and may be taken to your room. Please return them to their original locations when you are finished with them. Magazines can also be purchased in the Gift Shop.

You will find newspapers are on sale outside near the front door of the main entrance. An additional Pittsburg Morning Sun newspaper machine can be found outside near the outpatient entrance.

CareVan is a wheelchair-accessible transportation service offered by Via Christi Hospital providing rides for patients to and from medical appointments at the hospital, and its staff physician offices. For routine appointments, please give at least 24 hours advance notice for scheduling. Hours 8:30am-3:30pm Monday-Friday. Donations of $1.00 each one way or $2.00 round trip is appreciated.

Fax Machine
For your convenience, a FAX machine is located in Administration. Medical information may be faxed at no charge Monday through Friday during regular business hours. There is a nominal charge to fax non-medical information.

For the Hearing and Sight Impaired
Signboards, audio readers and talking books are available free of charge for hearing and sight impaired patients. Via Christi Hospital also has a TDD unit available at the switchboard for patient and public use. The dedicated TDD number is (620) 232-0300. There is no fee for this service.

Gift Shop
The gift shop is located off the main lobby of the medical center. Gift items, cards, candy, magazines and toiletries can be purchased here from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays the Gift Shop is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
