Via Christi Health Systems is upgrading their Synapse installation. This Synapse release adds new functionality as well as an updated look and feel. Below are instructions and a link to a file that will update your version of Synapse. It should ONLY be used for machines that connect to the vcpx.via-christi.org Synapse data source.
Synapse servers at Via Christi are scheduled to be upgraded on Wednesday, 5/18/2011 at 10:00 PM CDT. Clients that have NOT been upgraded MAY not be able to access servers that have been upgraded. Therefore, please plan to upgrade Synapse workstations at your location sometime prior to 5/18/2011.
Steps to upgrade your Synapse installation are below:
1. Verify the machine utilizes the vcpx.via-christi.org datasource by right-clicking the Synapse icon on the desktop, selecting "Properties", and ensuring "vcpx.via-christi.org" is in the address line. If the vcpx.via-christi.org line does not appear as below - STOP - please contact Via Christ Service Center at 350-3838 for assistance with upgrading. They will create a support ticket for someone to call you with assistance.
2. Close all applications running on the machine.
3. Click here to run the install file.
A dialog box similar to below will appear - select the "Run" button
After a short download a dialog box similar to the below MAY appear. If it does, select the "Run" button.
Installation will proceed with a black command window displaying several scrolling text lines related to the upgrade. This may take a few minutes to complete.
This next progress bar will this display as the installation completes. When this box goes away, the installation has completed.
After installation completes, boot the machine.
After booting, Synapse should run normally. There will be some minor changes to the functionality of the application.
Please call the Via Christi Service Center at 350-3838 if you experience problems.
If there are multiple machines utilizing Synapse at your location, please do one machine and verify functionality before updating all machines.
