A USA Today article talked about how counseling experts are already seeing a 66% growth in calls this year from adult children seeking advice on complex medical, legal and financial issues involving aging parents, according to a report. There is also typically an increase during November and December, when families gather after long absences.
When children come home for the holidays, it’s often the first time they start to see signs that mom and dad might need some assistance. At this time of year concerned children of aging parents often call seeking guidance in getting help for their parents.
It might not be that they need to be moved to assisted living, but maybe they could use some help around the house or a helpful neighbor to look in on them from time to time. Another option might be Smart Home Technology, which enables older adults to remain independent in their homes and provides security and peace of mind.
