Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, in cooperation with DMS Imaging, is pleased to offer PET(Positron Emission Tomography)/CT (Computerized Tomography)to the Southeast Kansas region.
PET/CT scanning provides the functional information that only PET can provide combined with the anatomical information from CT scan. The fused images created by the combination scanner better enables the doctors to locate and properly treat cancer, brain disorders, heart disease and Alzheimer's. PET has been found to be very effective in imaging lung, esophageal, lymphoma, melanoma, and head and neck cancers. Follow-up treatment for breast cancer is also an approved use for PET.
PET/CT data can assist physicians to create a more effective radiation therapy plan. PET/CT scans can also be used to assess the staging of many cancers and to check the progress of treatment.
Images created by the PET/CT are interpreted by our team of board certified radiologist who also bring special experience in PET. Final results of the test are provided to the patient's physician to assist in further treatment.
