Subject to legal requirements and exceptions in the law, your health information will be used only to provide you with appropriate care and treatment, create a record of the care and services you receive, and bill you or your insurance in a timely fashion. Your health information will be shared only with those who are entitled or have a need to receive such information.

For Family and Friends
When you're in the hospital, your family and friends may request regular updates on your condition. But that can mean repeated phone calls interrupting you, your family waiting at the hospital or unit nursing staff.
To help minimize interruptions - and ensure information about you is shared only with those you authorize - you'll be asked to provide a password to nursing staff and selected family or friends. Callers or visitors who ask Medical Center staff for an update on your condition must provide the password to receive information about you. Your confidential password will remain in your chart until you are discharged.
You are encouraged to select one or two people to receive updates and ask them to share this information with others you designate.
