|Education - Consists of instruction, training and research support for orthopaedic surgeons, residents and nurses. This also includes lectures at community organizations and universities to educate both the public and the professional in orthopaedic and musculoskeletal related issues. ORI will also be recruiting Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows through its affiliation with the Department of Biology at Wichita State University.
The Institute has extensive facilities for testing materials and components, both in simulated body environments and on human cadavers. Backed up with industry-leading computational engineering design and analysis capabilities, our interdisciplinary setting has proven to be an innovative and productive venue for solving medical, engineering, and material science problems.
ORI also has animal testing facilities at Wichita State University to conduct testing of drugs and biological response modifiers in mouse models of arthritis, and biocompatibility models (both in vitro and in vivo) to evaluate the safety of materials for biomedical devices. It performs evaluation of patient responses to aid in the selection of appropriate indwelling devices, and analysis-adverse responses to assess the contribution of material specific reactions.
ORI offers the expertise and flexibility to the solution of design, product evaluation, and development demands. Research partners of ORI include a number of major orthopaedic companies.
