Dr. Wooley is widely recognized as an expert in the immunological aspects of biocompatibility, and has numerous publications on biological responses to orthopaedic biomaterials. He also has made significant contributions to the pre-clinical development of many drugs to treat arthritis, including Enbrel, Remicade, Kineret, and Lodine, and the evaluation of the biocompatibility of silicone and materials used for viscosupplementation. Dr. Wooley also holds an appointment as professor of biology at Wichita State University.
Shang-You Yang, MD, PhD, senior research scientist. Dr. Yang is an academic orthopaedic surgeon who is internationally recognized for work on gene therapy applications and the development of models to study novel composite biomaterials as bone substitutes. Dr. Yang also holds an appointment as associate professor of biology at Wichita State University, and as research associate professor at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita.
Alexander Chong, MSAE, MSBE, research engineer of ORI and teaching associate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. Chong has broad experience in both industry and academics that includes biomechanics device/machine design, mechanical testing and teaching.
Zheng Song, MS, lab coordinator of ORI Biocompatibility Laboratory at Wichita State University.
C. Douglas Pence, MD, an orthopaedic (back) surgeon, a member of the ORI Board of Directors for many years and consistent collaborator with the engineering staff on the development and testing of devices, instruments and implants.
