A life-long Wichitan, she has served Via Christi for more than 20 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Kansas, and began her career as an occupational therapist at St. Joseph Medical Center, now Via Christi Hospital on Harry.
In 1995, she was named vice president of Operations for Via Christi Rehabilitation Center and in 1997 also assumed responsibilities for St. Joseph operations. In 2002, she was named chief operating officer of Our Lady of Lourdes, now Via Christi Rehabilitation Hospital until February 2006.
Laurie Labarca served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Via Christi Wichita Health Network until October 2010, when she was named chief operating officer of Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis. Her title changed to administrator for hospital operations in 2013 as part of a title structure change that occurred throughout Via Christi.
