Via Christi helps KidFest kick off Prairie Fire weekend
KidFest, an annual expo designed for kids of all ages is coming up — and Via Christi Health will be there providing information and learning activities designed to help keep you and your family healthy and safe.
The annual event, which runs from 9 am-5 pm Saturday, May 3, in Century II Expo Hall, also will serve as the packet pick-up site for participants in the Sunday, May 4, Prairie Fire Wichita Spring Half Marathon.
Your child will have a chance to visit Kohl’s Safety Town, which thanks to a grant from Kohl’s Cares®, travels to various Wichita-area sites to provide free hands-on pedestrian and bicycle safety education to kids ages 5 to 14.
Other events at this year’s KidFest will include:
• A Health Pavilion featuring Via Christi-staffed teddy bear ER; representatives from Via Christi Forensic Nursing Services and the Wichita Police Department’s CSI division; the Wichita Fire Department’s Smokehouse; and numerous other health- and safety-related interactive displays and activities.
• A Summer of Fun Activity Area with information about all types of summer recreation classes, camps and outdoor fun.
• A Game Zone where kids can play electronic games.
• Live stage shows, inflatables and costumed children’s characters including Marvel’s Iron Man.
Plus there will be dozens of booths offering products and services of interest to children and their families.
All registered Prairie Fire participants will receive complimentary admission to KidFest, where, if you haven’t already done so, you can still sign up to take part in the half-marathon, 5K, or My Heart. My Life. Fun/Run Walk.
You can also pick up free passes for your children at your area Kwik Shop.
Tickets also will be available at the door for $6 for adults and $2 for children 10 and under.
