Via Christi sponsors dedication of Downtown YMCA
Via Christi Health is a premier sponsor for the dedication ceremony and opening activities at the Greater Wichita YMCA’s new downtown location. More than 800 people attended the recent dedication ceremony. Other opening activities are planned, including an open house for the public and the grand opening.
The new, 110,000-square-foot Robert D. Love Downtown YMCA is a family friendly space with a number of programs and services, including two new programs. The Healthy Eating initiative will help Wichita families eat better, and the Water Wise program will help low-income adults and children learn to swim.
Its features include a café with service by the Hyatt Regency Wichita, a Kid Zone drop-in nursery, an eight-lane lap pool for competitive and recreational swimming plus an indoor family/therapy pool with a large play structure and whirlpool, and two full-size, wood-surface gymnasium courts.
The Y also will offer a full range of fitness classes and cardio and strength centers. The indoor track is the YMCA’s largest at just six laps to the mile.
