Dan Pennington serves as Via Christi’s chief philanthropy officer, having joined the health system in 2013.
Pennington leads the Department of Philanthropy, which helps advance the mission of Via Christi by connecting grateful patients and others in the community who have the desire to make a difference with Via Christi programs and projects that will help advance care in the region.
A native of Liberal, Pennington attended the University of Kansas for his undergraduate studies and received a master’s degree in philanthropic studies from Indiana University. He worked at the Mayo Clinic for 10 years, most recently as the assistant chair for development. He previously was the principal and senior consultant for his own firm, Pennington & Co., in Lawrence.
