| When your child is sick, nobody feels well. That's why the Grant and Norma Davis ChildLife Center at Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis puts families at the center of their children's care. Our staff, facilities and attitude reflect our family-friendly approach to your child's care.
The ChildLife Center is a beautiful, family-friendly center with child-size technology and features. Each of the 27 private patient rooms is spacious, so parents can comfortably stay overnight. There's a room where families can share a meal or relax, separate activity rooms for children and teens and a communications center with a computer with Internet access. Parents of children with long-term medical needs can spend a night or two in a transitional care suite to acquire skills and confidence before taking their children home.
The ChildLife Center has its own operating/special procedure room with an adjacent sunlit four-bed recovery room. Three rooms with extra equipment are used by children after a stay in pediatric intensive care. The center was funded entirely through donations, including a $400,000 contribution by Davis-Moore Auto Group in honor of its late founder Grant Davis.
Consultations with board-certified physicians from virtually every pediatric specialty are available to provide world-class medical care. The pediatric care team also includes pediatric nurses, pediatric therapists, a childlife specialist who uses play therapy to help ease anxiety and stress, and chaplains and social workers.
