Born on July 6, 1928, Charlotte Carter qualifies as a real firecracker. She was raised in St. Paul and attended St. Francis Catholic High School.
After graduation, she attended St. Benedictine College in Atchison. Charlotte married Jim Carter Sept. 3, 1947, at her home church in St. Paul. Their union was blessed with seven children, Steve, Pam, Becky, Meg, Jamie, Chris and Lori.
A homemaker extraordinaire, Charlotte always enjoyed sewing for her family. She made all the bridesmaids' gowns for her four daughter's weddings. She also made beautiful throw pillows in later years.
Charlotte always had a spotless home and enjoyed keeping it so. In those days, most women did not work out of the home, so the ladies would get together in the mornings for coffee and visit while their children played together.
"She was a marvelous cook, and having seven hungry mouths to feed, she had to be," smiled her daughter, Pam.
Charlotte also enjoyed painting, ceramics and had the kind of green thumb that would grow any kind of plant, inside and outside.
She and Jim traveled extensively and saw much of the U.S.A. They really enjoyed horse racing and attended frequently.
Charlotte moved to Via Christi Village in Pittsburg 2 ½ years ago, where she enjoys her new home and the wonderful people she encounters daily.
