| Early detection saves lives
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in the United States, except for skin cancers. During her life, a woman has a 1 in 8 chance of developing invasive breast cancer and a 1 in 35 chance of dying from the disease.
During the past decade, death rates from breast cancer have been declining. These decreases are the result of earlier detection through screening mammography. The American Cancer Society recommends annual screening mammograms for women age 40 and older.
Via Christi Health locations throughout Wichita provide digital mammography, the most advanced imaging technology available for the early detection of breast cancer.
