|Via Christi has been named one of this year’s InformationWeek 500 — a list of the top technology innovators in the United States.
There were only 48 health care organizations among the list’s 500 top innovators. The full list can be found at www.informationweek.com/500.
Via Christi, which placed 128th, was recognized for its development of vChart, a mobile app allowing clinicians to remotely access their patients’ records and clinical information at any time, from anywhere a signal is available.
“It’s exciting to be recognized for our innovation in technology,” said Sam Antonios, MD, Via Christi senior administrator for Informatics. “vChart is the perfect example of a partnership between IT and clinicians, solving real problems enabling us to provide our patients with excellent care.”
vChart advances patient-centered care by making patient information, lab results, X-rays and more available through a single, portable app developed by Via Christi’s Information Technology department.
“By connecting our clinicians with the most up-to-date, consistent patient data, we know we are saving time, reducing errors and cost, “ said Abdul Bengali, Via Christi’s chief information officer. “The vChart app is just the beginning of our digital commitment to clinicians and patients, advancing patient-centered care by improving efficiency, quality and safety.”
The theme of this year's InformationWeek 500 is digital business.
“It's a movement, rooted in data analytics, mobile computing, social networking and other customer‐focused technologies that are turning companies and industries on their ear," said Rob Preston, InformationWeek editor in chief. "Every enterprise is now a digital business — or needs to become one fast. The organizations in our ranking are leading the way."
