HAYS, KAN. (April 23, 2012) – Residents will begin moving into Via Christi Village in Hays on May 1. A public open house was held on April 22.
The village features a brand new 96-bed skilled nursing center. The $14 million expansion has added 80,000 square feet to the existing senior living community which offers independent, assisted and health care services.
Incorporating the latest in design concepts for senior living, the new skilled nursing center is built in “neighborhoods” with small units of 14 resident rooms each. The rooms surround an open commons area providing the residents the opportunity to interact in smaller and more intimate home-like settings. Seventy-two of the 96 accommodations are private rooms.
Each neighborhood includes a spa, fireplace, dining and living room, a den, and access to an outdoor patio or balcony. Additionally, there is a state of the art physical therapy room, theme lounges and a beautiful chapel, which serves as the focal point of the new construction.
Construction on the expansion began in January 2011. The campus is managed by Wichita-based Via Christi Villages.
