Kenney Achieves Renewal of Certified Diabetes Educator Status

Manhattan, Kan. - The National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) announced that Jody Kenney RN, BSN, Mercy Regional Health Center - Diabetes Center, 1105 Sunset Ave., has renewed her Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) status by successfully completing the continuing education renewal option process. Candidates must meet rigorous eligibility requirements to be eligible for certification. Achieving the CDE credential demonstrates to people with diabetes and employers that the health care professional possesses distinct and specialized knowledge, thereby promoting quality of care for people with diabetes.

Kenney has worked at Mercy as a diabetes educator in the Diabetes Center for 10 years.

The Diabetes Center at Mercy offers a wide variety of education and support for people with diabetes and their families, including classes for persons who have been newly diagnosed, individual nutrition counseling, blood glucose testing, weight loss, medications, and preventing complications. Classes on diabetes prevention are also offered. The Diabetes Center is open M-F and a satellite clinic is held weekly at Wamego City Hospital.
