Childbirth

Through a series of classes, our certified childbirth educators will help prepare you for labor, birth and early parenthood. Class topics include:

• Comfort measures for labor and birth
• Lamaze breathing techniques
• Relaxation methods
• Breathing, relaxation and positioning
• Cesarean birth
• Video presentations
• Postpartum care
• Guided tour of the Birth & Women's Center

Each series of classes is limited to eight couples. We encourage you to enroll as early in your pregnancy as possible, and no later than your fifth month. It is recommended you complete the series at least four weeks before your due date.

We offer this series of classes:

• One evening a week for three weeks (times vary) OR
• One Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (The Saturday course is a condensed version of the weeknight course for those with busy schedules. Participants in the Saturday course will receive a supplemental online curriculum to enhance learning.)
• Online course also available upon request for those on bed rest or for those who participate via long distance learning. The online course comes with one-time complimentary session with a certified childbirth educator.

Registration
To register, complete the Childbirth Education Registration Form (PDF), noting which course date you wish to attend. Submit the form and payment to Educational Services. If you have questions regarding this class, please call Educational Services at (785) 587-5413.
