We provide the Manhattan community with educational programs that support Mercy Regional's patient care initiatives. Developed by both educators and clinical staff, these programs are a great way to inform area residents about healthcare matters that affect their daily lives.

Diabetes Education
Mercy Regional's Diabetes Center helps individuals learn to successfully manage their diabetes. Through group and one-on-one training, you'll become educated about your diabetes and learn how to prevent long-term complications.

Continuing Medical Education (CME)
Mercy Regional is accredited by the Kansas Medical Society to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians.

Staff Development
The purpose of staff development is to enhance the performance and professional development of our healthcare providers. We are constantly assessing and evaluating the learning needs of Mercy employees, then developing specific educational programs to meet those needs. Staff development includes job and hospital orientation, in-service learning, and competency assessment activities.

Educational Support Activities
Other services we offer to support community and professional education include:

  • Providing clinical learning experiences for students in accredited learning programs.
  • Serving as an American Heart Association Community Training Center.
  • Developing and overseeing the HealthStream Learning Center (HLC), an online learning management system available to Mercy Regional employees through MNet, Mercy's intranet site. An online learning lab is available through the Professional Development Center.
