Paul H. Wooley, PhD, research director, KBA eminent scholar. Dr. Wooley is widely recognized as an expert in the immunological aspects of biocompatibility, and has numerous publications on biological responses to orthopaedic biomaterials. He also has made significant contributions to the pre-clinical development of many drugs to treat arthritis, including Enbrel, Remicade, Kineret, and Lodine, and the evaluation of the biocompatibility of silicone and materials used for viscosupplementation. Dr. Wooley also holds an appointment as professor of biology at Wichita State University. |

Shang-You Yang, MD, PhD, senior research scientist. Dr. Yang is an academic orthopaedic surgeon who is internationally recognized for work on gene therapy applications and the development of models to study novel composite biomaterials as bone substitutes. Dr. Yang also holds an appointment as associate professor of biology at Wichita State University. |

Alexander Chong, MSAE, MSBE, research engineer of ORI and teaching associate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. Chong has broad experience in both industry and academics that includes biomechanics device/machine design, mechanical testing and teaching. |

Haiying Yu, MD (China), PhD, research scientist. Dr. Yu's research interests include bone tissue engineering, biocompatibility of composite biomaterials, adult stem cells and vascularization of engineered tissue. Dr. Yu possesses substantial experience in field of cellular and molecular biology, biomaterials, animal model and clinical medicine. |

George L. Lucas, MD, an orthopaedic (hand) surgeon and former director of the residency program. Dr. Lucas is the inventor of a custom shoulder prosthesis and co-author of "A Primer of Biomechanics," a textbook on biomechanics for orthopaedic residents, all in collaboration with the ORI staff. |

| Engineering staff members serve regularly as ad hoc faculty advisors to undergraduate and graduate students in the Wichita State University College of Engineering. In addition, all senior staff and medical collaborators hold appointments as research/adjunct faculty in the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. |
