Kevin Olson appointed vice president, Information Services, CIO for Via Christi Health
WICHITA, Kan. (July 20, 2011) – Kevin Olson has been appointed vice president of information services and chief information officer for Via Christi Health. He will begin his duties on Sept. 19.
Olson’s experience in health care information technology includes developing a regional telehealth program, implementing electronic health records for hospitals and employed physicians, executing a physician alignment strategy and reorganizing and consolidating IT organizations from separate organizations.
Since 2004, Olson has served as regional chief information officer for SSM Health Care of Oklahoma, supporting three hospitals and 100 employed physicians. He previously served for one year as chief information officer at Salina Regional Health Center, and served as information systems director at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, Neb. He began his IT career as a data processing branch manager for the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety.
Olson is an Air Force veteran and has served as cyber security officer and as health care administration officer.
He earned his Master of Science in Health Administration from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and has a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Park University in Parkville, Mo.
Via Christi Health, a Catholic-sponsored ministry affiliated with Marian Health System and Ascension Health, is the largest provider of health care services in Kansas.
