Abdul “Ab” Bengali joined Via Christi Health in March 2012 as senior vice president of Information Services and Chief Information Officer. He has significant experience in partnering with clinicians to design and implement IT solutions to support a patient-centered, integrated practice of medicine.
Bengali came to Via Christi from Mayo Clinic where he served as Chief Information Officer since 2001. He joined Mayo in 1977 as a lead systems programmer and progressed to division chair, department vice chair and then department chair and CIO.
He collaborated with Medical Practice, Education, Research and Administration senior leadership to develop a 12-year IT roadmap that aligns with the Mayo Clinic strategic plan to provide a unified, integrated, coordinated and standard IT environment to promote a culture of safety, quality, service and innovation to meet the needs of the patient.
Bengali received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from California State Polytechnic University and earned a Mini Masters in Management Information Systems from the University of Minnesota.
