Shirley was born in Great Bend, KS on Aug. 12, 1930. When she graduated from high school, she pursued her passion for art. Her primary occupation was photography, restored art, and painted photographic scenes.
Shirley and her husband also worked together in his photography business while raising six children. The family has now grown to include six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Shirley enjoys the outdoors, looking at flowers, looking for rocks and arrowheads, watching TV sitcoms and music.
Shirley also lived in San Francisco for about five years, working for several causes. She helped feed the poor, worked for the Delancy St. Foundation and helped people find jobs.
“St. John’s Victoria has excellent management and staff,” Shirley says. “The staff has a lot of patience and gives good care. I would like to be able to promote St. John’s in some way because it is the best place in Kansas to live if you are going to be in a nursing home.“
