Born in Argonia, KS, David Bevan moved to Wichita when he was three years old, attending school there and graduating in 1933 from Wichita North High School.
David worked for Southern Kansas Stage Lines, later called Continental Trailways. He filled in for ticket agents in a number of cities, including Chicago, Flagstaff, Peoria, Kansas City, Joplin, Little Rock, Wichita, Oklahoma City and Albuquerque .
David served in the U.S. Army and retired in 1976 as a chief warrant officer CW-4 after 33 years.
David met his wife, Elnora Jane Ferguson at the Trailways Bus Company in Wichita where she worked as a ticket agent when he was home on leave. They were married in March, 1948 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in March, 1998. Jane passed away in June, 1998.
David has three children - twins Elnora Nokes who lives in Olathe and Gerry David Bevan who lives in Lawrence, MA, and another daughter, Leah Black, who lives in Lansing, Mich. David has four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
His hobbies are reading and singing. His talent helped earn him the title of 2010 Little Balkans King. In his earlier years, David enjoyed swimming and was a fancy high diver - three meter board.
David celebrated his 95th birthday on June 8.
