As a girl, Mary Schuberger dreamed of becoming a teacher. Soon after she completed the 12th grade, she applied to teach in the country school north of Weir where she had been educated. Mary was ecstatic when she was hired.

Her dream of teaching in the same building came to a tragic end when the school burned down, so she taught her first year in an individual's home. While teaching, Mary enrolled at Pittsburg State University. There, she completed a number of hours.

In 1951 she married Clyde Davis, a farmer in the area. They raised two children: a son, Randy, and a daughter, Mary Beth. Mary also tended to her teaching, ultimately spending 22 years sharing knowledge with others.

A devout Catholic, Mary was a lifetime member of the St. Mary's Altar Society. She enjoys crossword puzzles, reading and watching television.

Mary is enjoying her new home at Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, where she moved March 19, 2007.

"I love it here," she says. "Everybody is so nice and so very helpful. I've made several good friends."
